I have also been introduced to new hobbies and interests as a result of that never ending exposure at work. We have been challenged with first time errors on products we never existed prior to a service ticket coming our way. What do you like about working on the service desk?ĭue to hands-on approach we have taken at the desk, we are exposed to new and emerging technologies every day. It is also worth noting that it has given me a cutting edge among a field of candidates when interviewing for jobs in the past. I have also been able to utilize that same knowledge in the past to create a product for a client or enhance work before submission. Being able to run general diagnostics on most applications and programs has increased my productivity and also allowed me a role where I can teach others to do the same. With the exponential increase of technology synergized into every day office life, my exposure to IT related services and products has grown immensely. Has the service desk experience helped you in any other jobs that you have worked? How so?Ī general knowledge of running apps and programs came in handy during jobs I held before the pandemic. As the manager of the service desk, I get to use my 20+ years of experience in WCSU’s IT department to mentor my team and build up their technical problem-solving skills and customer service skills which they can use after they graduate. Students that graduate WCSU and that have gained experience while working on the WCSU service desk, have picked up fantastic jobs in the work force. ![]() WCSU students help faculty, staff, fellow students, and classmates with a wide range of IT issues including but not limited to login issues, technical support issues, and browser related issues. The IT&I Service Desk gives students real world experience in a fast paced, technologically driven education environment where they get to broaden their IT, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, Oz has obtained a Coaching Certificate from Coach University. Additionally, Oz has received training in improvisational acting from Whole World Improv Theatre and ComedyWorx/IO South. Oz Merchant has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Textile Management from North Carolina State University. Most recently, they became the VP of Customer Success & Support at Viably, a financial solution company for ecommerce business owners. Oz continued their entrepreneurial journey by becoming the Program Director at Founder Institute in 2023. Oz also founded Founders Local in the same year. In 2021, Oz became the VP of Sales & Marketing at CureMint, an all-in-one marketplace and spend management software company for dental practices. Oz also worked as a Business Coach at Mindhacking in 2018. In 2018, Oz founded and became the CEO of Wellistic, a wellness community platform. From 2017 to 2018, they served as the Director of EMEA & APAC at Samanage. Oz later became the Director of Global Customer Success at Samanage from 2013 to 2017. ![]() From 2011 to 2013, Oz worked as the Director of Sales at Samanage, a cloud-based asset management and service desk solution company. From 2009 to 2010, they served as a Senior Sales Executive at ShareFile, a provider of web-based file sharing and data archiving solutions. In 2007, they worked as an Enterprise Account Executive at inMotionNow, a leading enterprise approval workflow solution company. Oz Merchant has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries.
